News & Resources McKellar Certified as Specialist in Business and Consumer Bankruptcy

November 25, 2013

Scott McKellar was certified by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization and by the American Board of Certification in the areas of Business and Consumer Bankruptcy.  McKellar received his Business and Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist designations after meeting a series of rigorous requirements over the past several years, including extensive peer review and passage of written examinations.

The Board of Legal Specialization is a standing committee of the North Carolina State Bar that was created in 1985 to administer the specialization program as a service to the public.  The program assists members of the public in the selection of legal counsel by identifying lawyers who have demonstrated special knowledge, skill and proficiency in certain areas of law.  By identifying these lawyers, members of the public can more closely match their needs with available services.

The American Board of Certification is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to serving the public and improving the quality of the bankruptcy bar.  The rigorous ABC certification standards are designed to encourage bankruptcy practitioners to strive toward excellence and to recognize those attorneys who are experts in the bankruptcy field.
